EVENT PHOTOS: Parent Workshop with Dean Nimmer
Artist and author Dean Nimmer, whose exhibit "Art from Intution" is on display in Foster Gallery, hosted a workshop on creativity for parents on Sunday, October 5th. At the Massachusetts College of Art, where he taught from 1970 to 2004, Nimmer developed unique approaches to teaching the making of abstract art, which he calls "intuition painting". Nimmer shared some of those techniques such as creating shadow murals, making "Rorschach" prints and painting blindfolded, with eight eager and enthusiastic participants in the three-hour studio intensive. Foster Gallery, filled with more than 300 of Nimmer's abstract drawings, turned out to be an inspirational setting for art-making. "This was a high-energy event," said Nimmer, "which illustrates once again that there is an appreciation for creativity at any time in life, and that you can explore that creativity by making things." Nimmer's book on creativity, "Art from Intuition," was published last April and will be available during the exhibit. "
